Student Loan Refinance

Student loan borrowers are often unfamiliar with refinancing and concerned about fees and hassle. Without a clear understanding of why refinancing is good for them, they don’t often consider it as an option. We needed to help student loan borrowers overcome their inertia and start a quick and easy student loan refi application.

“Is the value I’m going to get out of this worth the time and hassle I’m going to put into it?”

In early 2022, I led the redesign of SoFi's Student Loan Refinance product page, the platform's second most visited page. The goal was to provide diverse audiences with a clear and engaging understanding of student loan refinancing—what it is, how it works, why it could benefit them, and how to get started.

I began by creating wireframes, reimagining components, and designing interactive modules. The prototypes were submitted for user testing, allowing us to compare them against the existing page and gather valuable insights. Using this feedback, I refined the hierarchy and layout of the new page to enhance usability and clarity. Midway through the project, SoFi’s brand team introduced a fresh set of brand images, which I seamlessly integrated into the updated design. Once all of SoFi’s marketing strategies were incorporated, the finalized page was handed off to the web development team, where it underwent a thorough QA process to ensure quality and functionality.
